I bought the Meopta Artimes 1.5-6x40something and the Burris 4X 1.5x6x40something and both are fine hunting scopes. I've been beating up on the coyotes this past week with the Meopta on my Model 70 222 Rem and earlier with the Burris 4X on my 22 Mag and my 6mm-204. I couldn't be happier with them.
After the first shot the rest are just noise.

Thanks for the responses.
I should have provided some parameters. This would be a scope used primarily for Eastern whitetail hunting and some varmint control.
Preference is for low power now higher than 3X, but even lower is better. I shoot a lot of deer with a rifle at distances reasonable for a good archer a bow, just because it’s so thick where I hunt with lots of sharp ground contour as well.
Like to have at 6X on the high end.
I see a lot of mentions for Burris. I don’t have much experience with Burris, so maybe should give them a try.

Or Redfield Revolution 2-7. Seems like they can be had cheaper than the Leupold and have essentially the same glass and covered by Leupold warranty. They are easy little scopes to get behind.
Always remember that you are unique, just like everyone else.

That Burris 1.5-6x will be impossible to beat for that price and what you do. The Weaver Grand Slam would be almost as good.

Burris 3-9 FFII Weaver classic 2-7 Leupold M-8 4x
If I can’t get it done with one of those, I have bigger problems.

With your power parameters, I'll go exotic and say a Burris FFII 2-7. Got one of those too.

the Burris E1 from doug on sale is what I'd go with. probably don't want to hear nikon. But I’d bet you can find their monarch 2.5-10 for half off and would cover all your needs. from thick to open

All of them do something better than the 30-06, but none of them do everything as well.

That Burris 1.5-6x will be impossible to beat for that price and what you do. On paper, I’d agree. However, my experience with that scope is that 1-3x is hard to use because of tunnel vision. I find it pretty distracting. The tracking hasn’t proven wonderful, either. Still, the glass is surprisingly clear and bright, and that reticle is excellent for getting on game. If you’re using it on 4x or up, it hangs with glass costing much more. [With that said...best fixed 4x you can find... I keep ending up here. A 4x32 Conquest puts me on game immediately, near to far. Given that I keep the aforementioned Burris at 4x, I might as well just use a fixed scope.

You can usually pick up a used Leupold VX3 in the Classifieds for around $300.
