Hello
Sorry to trouble you.
These terms like
Premil, is that pre military
And what is postmil and lbc.
I have never heard these terms used by others referring to different kinds of guns, only here on this site.

Pre-mil means a Pre-million serial numbered rifle, post mil mean post million serial number, breakoff is 1960 for the million mark. LBC is the Lever Boss Code, you can date most manufacture by the lbc found just forward of the Lever hinge, they started this in 1949 and it stayed until early 1970, late 1969. Les

They are Savage specific terms.

Quick breakdown of serial numbers..

Savage 1895's went from 3000 to 8000+ from 1895 to 1899.

Pre-mil Savage 1899's/99's went from 10,000 to 999,999 from 1899 to 1959. Skipped almost all of the 800,000 range though.

Post-mil Savage 99's went from 1960 until the end. Got weird here with normal serial numbers up over a million, then serial numbers with letters in front of them as they consolidated the serial numbers for Savage 99's with all other Savage guns.

LBC's started in 1949 with numbers followed by the letter A, then the letter increased each year. Except they skipped O and Q. So for 1949 and on, using the LBC is one way of dating a rifle, though there's some debate as to whether it's more accurate than the serial number. Watch for a post from Ron_T where he explains LBC's, he does a bang up job.

Could be, maybe not. I was taught that it never hurts to show a bit of courtesy though. And even if Wise99 is just trolling, there's probably lurkers that appreciate this info spelled out again.

Aw,just trying to be a bit humorous.Things got a bit out of hand a while back and I was trying to make light of things.I still laugh when I remember a certain someone telling me to go find a pasture of sheep.I guess the most aggravating thing was people PM'ing me their support on past situations and then not having my back when It could have helped.I had an old fella ask me how many friends I had when I was about 17.I rattled off about 20 and he laughed. He said if I had 5 true friends throughout my life I was luckier than most.I don't beleive anyone here is a bad guy.I think we've all just got a bit too much grit.Heck,I fought most of my buddies back in school before we were buddies.Ha!
In order to prevent future spats I beleive I'll try and think twice before I hit submit.(As someone here recently stated).
