My guess is that it's the inadvertent exposure to unexpected ridicule that makes people not ask questions that could save them a lot of wasted time, money and heartache.

I'm just thinking out loud here.

I'm thinking 6 high at 100. 4 high at 200 and right on at 300.

Not everybody gets to shoot all the way out to 100, like you do.

For the OP, I never owned a boresighter, don't need one, just look down the bore like you did. Just don't limit yourself to a "target" that's inside the house.

I have a couple of things I use, just need a solid rest near a window.

The wife always worries about someone seeing me do that, but I just tell her I hope they do, then they'll keep their damn dogs out of the yard.

The farther you can look at something through your barrel and then adjust your scope to it is going to get you on target faster when you start shooting IMO.

That's an excitable round.

Like heading to el bano (le crapper) with your nightstick in hand.
Artillery round.

If I can't take the bolt out of a rifle and boresight it on a target 100 yds away I shoot one shot at 25 yds and adjust the scope to where I think it'll be at zero. Next shot is at 100 yds and is always on a 8.5"x11" piece of paper. From there it's just refining it. I never understood spending money on a boresighter, one shot and you should be able to figure out where to go if everything's working right.
