Will this give any advantage over the 6.5CM or .264 WM? I'm not sure why it intrigues me. But, it does. Maybe because it's a new excuse for a gun? grin

Thinking about getting one in a mossbeg patriot predator just to play with.

I bought a Mauser M18 from the current Europtic sale for less than it was going to cost me to rebarrel my potential donor to go with the factory ammo I bought 2 years ago. Of course I am a 6.5 fan -- took my first deer with a 6.5X55 in 19(mumble)...

tzone, the PRC is a 'tweener'..... It's between the CM and the 264 mag, about 200 fps either way. More than the CM, less than the maggie.

Like the Creedmoor, with modern and consistent chamber dimensions and great quality brass, it should be more accurate than your run-of-the-mill 264. Not to mention more fun to shoot, and in a lighter rifle.

And enough faster than the Creedmoor to reduce some Windrift out on the big bad prairies.

What else do you need? grin

Anybody who seriously concerns themselves with the adequacy of a Big 7mm for anything we hunt here short of brown bear, is a dufus. They are mostly making shidt up. Crunch! Nite-nite!

Well, that alone is good enough reason for me to do it.

I dabbled with two different Creedmoors and it just left me wanting for more. I didn’t want a barrel burning 264 WM or 26 Nosler either. Then the PRC came about and I felt like this might be just what I’m looking for. Getting just under 3000 FPS with factory ammo shooting the same bullets I shot in the Creedmoor is way more appealing. Handloads shooting well over 3000 FPS and amazing accuracy well what’s not to like. I’m betting on another 1/2 dozen factory loads coming out this year too which will give a guy who doesn’t hand load more options with less frangible bullets. It’s a pretty sweet caliber for long shots with minimal recoil.

Sounds pretty sweet ‘Cub! I’d like to wait and see who else comes out with one after the shot show.

Should not have read all this, gonna probably wind up with a 6.5 PRC . Wanted a 6.5 gap to go with or replace my 7 Saum's but might just creep a 6.5 PRC into the mix.

Me either.

I'd like to see if/what other companies come out with the PRC. I could get a Ruger I guess but it would probably get sold or traded for something anyway. We'll see.

Christensen has been in the 6.5PRC game for a while. Savage has had the 6.5PRC in their line-up for a year or so and seem to be available. Cousin of mine in TX just got a Savage 110 High Country in 6.5PRC. Shoots lights out . Looks like Browning and Winchester will have 6.5PRC offerings, However, they probably won't ship until late summer.

I just order a Mauser from Europtic in 6.5 PRC for a sale price of much less than cost of rebarreling a magnum action I just bought for that purpose. Ballistically this should be about the same a a 6.5-06 or the 6.5-284 Norma but in a short action with factory ammo.

I have developed a hunting load for 6.5 prc that I have for sale. I'm using adg brass, Hodgdon extreme powder, match primers and pusing 130 swift sciroccos at 3050 from a 24" tube. My rifle is shooting half inch. Daughter pounded 2 deer late season with this load. Devastating on both. Very much like the PRC
