Get a sleep study, find out why you're not sleeping. Might save your life.

EXACTLY. An electrician friend had sleep apnea. Got it diagnosed and he is fine now.

My wife and all her family have trouble falling to sleep and staying asleep.

I tell them a clean conscience is a soft pillow... laugh

Might be.

Could even be restless legs.

Some like Melatonin. I tried it and the most common side effect is really weird dreams. Well, really weird doesn't come close, it opened up the Pandoras box I keep in the deep dark recesses of an already dark mind...and I will NEVER take it again!

Benadryl brings out the weird dreams for me. Sleep yes, but no rest.

A sleep study might be a good idea. I have heartburn issues. It seems to help me sleep to chew up a couple tums before I go to bed.

No problems sleeping, eight or nine solid hours a night. My grandmother used to tell me, “Teddy you can sleep on a picket fence”.

Dad always told me that you are either on your feet or on your mattress. Don't try to economize on either one of them. A good mattress and pillow make a lot of difference. Back when I was working, I'd need to be sharp making a presentation and could never shut my brain off the night before. A prescription for Ambien solved that, but even the 10 mg was too strong and I bit those in half. I do have the generic Zolpidem if I ever need them, but the allergy relief Equate with the 25 mg of Diphenhydramine of antihistamine does the same thing as Benadryl and is cheaper. Not every night, but if after an hour I can't sleep, that works. Ambien/Zolpidem is a dangerous drug, use with caution. My sister doctor dislikes them a great deal.

The wife did the sleep study and as usual they prescribed that damn CPAP machine. She went through hell with three different face masks, regulator adjustments, sinus infections, the thing falling off... Turns out that 70% of people have issues with those things. She went and got fitted for a mouth guard that uses small rubber bands to hold her jaw slightly forward and bingo. No more sleep apnea, she can sleep, I can sleep because she doesn't snore anymore and she gets a way better nights sleep.

My other auto is a .45

"Sleep study" is for the apnea/CPAP industry. Doesn't have much to do with with trouble falling asleep.
Like crow said, go to a Dr. who is willing to give you proper sleeping pills if needed - not psych. meds. That is, if you don't have drug dependency issues.

Ice cubes.... Just two is all you need.

Soak them in about four fingers worth of burbon...

Drink it up 15 minuites before nap time....

Benadryl (either a swig of liquid or a gelcap), a melatonin pill, half a bottle of you're favorite liquor. Works for me every time. But puts me out for 8-10 hours.

Hell no wonder you don’t sleep. I sleep about 5 hrs per night at 67. Three will probably be about right if I make 82.

Are you napping during the day? If you are, that’s jacking up your sleep.
