Heard yesterday There was a possible case in the College Station area. I’m guessing a foreign student from China. There were lots of them there when I was there in the 1980s. I’m sure there are probably lots of them there now.
Anyhow, I was thinking that was your neck of the woods.

No, no! I'm talking about media prognostications of doom for the US. Like the Chinese bird flu scare of 2013. Which ended up killing a lot of Chinese chickens but a couple hundred people in total.

Cut off all trade and all travel with the yellow people. They can sell the plastic toys to Iran, and they get no more of our stuff either.

As a kid, my parents were close friends with a real old time, horse and buggy country doctor. The families would get together with a another couple for supper during the winter. The men would sit in the dining room and smoke and talk and the women would do dishes. I got to polish the silverware and put it back into the chest and listen to the men talk. The firsthand stories I heard about the “flu epidemic”, in 1918-1920, were enough to give me nightmares. Lots of cases of young folks and kids dying which were never reported to any official entity. They were given a funeral at the rural church and buried in a small country cemetery. In 1891-92 there was a “Cholera” epidemic in eastern Nebraska that killed almost a third of the school children. A quick walk thru any of the old rural cemeteries will prove enlightening.

Pandemics have always been a part of human history. Ebola and AIDS are proof that modern medicine doesn’t have all of the answers yet.

Again, I'm mocking the panic being ginned up by the media on the mere possibility that this could become serious. Good for the news business. They've done exactly that before.

I have to say that I am concerned for the heathen and christians of china just the same. The rate of the spread and percentage of fatalities is disheartening to me for sure. I suspect the very young and the very old are most at risk of fatalities.

Cant say I have a lot of love for the way China has done business with the world USA included, yet I would not wish this illness on anyone.

I heard this AM the US govt ordered all US citizens in China to return now. Unreal. Suckers want that stuff here. They should be closing off incoming.

I wonder how many Chinese peasants will actually be treated in those emergency hospitals. My bet is they are reserved for the rich and govt officials.

The next week will tell a lot. 60ish monitored patients in 22 states.
