Let's see: A. start playing pool at age 9 at a local after skool rec center in Boston, learning along the way from the older guys about fun and sometimes profit and making girls smile resulting from knowing your way around a slate and acting dumb, even if you weren't the best shooter around. B. Making it a point when possible on living in a house with a pool table for many of your years from adolescence on. C. Insisting when home shopping to have a table in the house. D. Enjoying the thrill and drama of beating guys from cocky BU college athletes to local hall wannabe hustlers to random cats thinking beating their cousins and kid sisters growing up made them legitimate contenders. People crack me up.

Roger is who he is....Deb met my friends who came to fish with me for a few day,she was mesmerized like a moth to the flame or some one driving by a bad wreck but couldn't look away...Roger regaled with stories of knife fights and shootings whilst he and another were sharing the same woman ,tails of old station wagons and cousins

Roger seems like probably one of the top 5 people on this site it would be fun to hang out with. I can only think of probably 2 more.

If I were of a mind I'd have to come visit. Although I haven't played regularly in over 20 years. Somewhere my nice cue went by the wayside. While never a shark, I had a start on a lot of folks by having the local burger joint having a table which I started playing on at about 10-11 years old, then a friend in middle/high school had his own too. When I reached 21 and bar age, the folks at the local watering hole were surprised a "kid" could play as well as I did. There was an old guy, Lou, came in there, had played pro against the likes of Willie and Fats, I learned a lot from him. I was never spectacular, but at one time in life, in the Harrisburg PA area, a roommate and I would drive up Fri nights to Duncannon, get a free pitcher from our favorite barmaid, then play partners the rest of the night drinking beer for free. Along with a few bar league trophies, I didn't do too badly.
