I picked up a minty Browning/Miroku Low Wall in .223 which has only the Browning bases present. Dumb question since I'm really not that much of a scope guy: will standard Leupold rings fit? If so, recommendations for height (assuming a scope in the nature of an older Leupold M8 6x?
Second question for the cognoscenti: any idea what the twist rate is/was in these things? A knowledgeable answer could save me having to measure it myself. I don't care if it has a slow-ish twist as I'm happy to work with 50-55 grain cup-n-cores.

I have all 1-14's except one CZ.. They all shoot 55 grain bullets with no problem.. But I have not shot 55 Vmax.. The old std. Sierra, Horn. & Speer all shoot fine..

Twist rate should be 1-12".
If your bases are the front dovetail and rear windage mounts then the Leupold rings will work. You might want to ask someone if the ring heights are the same. I don't know on a low wall. My B78 high wall uses different ring heights on Leupold bases.

Thank you. You answered my questions.
Yes they are as you asked. Now to start the mix and match routine to get the scope as low as practical.

Nice score! Lucky, lucky you.
If I could only keep one, my LW Hornet would be it, even if I had to do my Bambi whacking with it.
Just pulled it out to check, and it's got Burris lows, with the inserts, on Burris bases. After 20 years I've forgotten the details, but the other bases I bought wouldn't fit. The pre-2000 V-Whatever 3-9 hasn't budged.
If you want some good factory stuff to play with, Fiocchi Extrema w/40gr VMaxes is good stuff. It can be found for about $.40 a round in boxes of 50. Midway has it on sale for $85 for 200 in a plastic ammo can.
What fresh Hell is this?

My Browning low wall has Browning bases with the lowest Leupold rings I could find. It has a Leupold 4x12 scope with plenty of room to the barrel and to work the hammer. Works very well.
