I avoid them, unless you like scratches on your lenses.

I use one. Use the brush first to get out any particles. Then I use a Zeiss wipe. Then finish out with the felt side of the pen to get the rub/alcohol marks from the Zeiss wipe. I do one lens then twist the felt side in the cap and do the other end. I've never had a lens or coating scratched that way. You just have to change the pen out every so often, but I've used the one I'm currently using for a few years on many scopes.

The cap has a treated pad in it that you twist the felt head in to retreat it.....I think. LOL.

Everybody knows Al uses a Limbsaver donut on his barrels when shooting. He just takes it off for pics.

Get one of the little bulb and brush air blower things at a Camera shop and some lens paper. Get some wet packets and some dry ones.

When at home I blow the grit off and then run binos under the faucet, then wet lens paper, then dry.

Pens and cloth lens clothes are to likely to collect grit unless you are meticulous in using them. The little wipes work great in the field.

If you have hard water, you are no doubt doing irreparable damage to the lens.

Not any more. The donut won't fit with the Lead sled.

The Zeiss wipes I use are disposable. It's just a paper lens cloth with some dilution of alcohol on it. I wad it up, rub one way around the outside. Re-wad to get a new surface and wipe the rest of the outside. Then re-wad to get a new surface and wipe the rest down. No grit.

I use a spray bottle and distilled water at the end of the hunting seasons. Then wipe the lens off. The rest of the time I just ignore them and let 'em get dirty.

I don't over clean my scope lenses or Bino lenses. I keep the scope covered when not in use. When I do clean it it's very softly and delicately. I hthead a couple of the brush blowers but can't find them but I felthet good using them so I think I'll buy me another one. I like to blow the dust off the lens then brush softy, then wipe it gently with a lens cleaning pad like the Leupold ones to wipe it gently, then use some dry lens paper to finish it. But very gently. But there's no substitute for lens covers. Keep 'em covered when not in use. Mine wear covers even in the safe.

Had good luck with the lens pens as well as a soft bristled lens brush to get the particulates followed by a microfibre cloth.
The individual packets of glasses cleaning wipes work well too.
