I leave the house with an empty gun case, she doesn't look in it, bring it home with one in it....... See refers to them as all them guns now, not by number so it is at a point where she could care less. Les Well Les, when I buy Big Daddy a gun, he gets a new case with it. If a new case shows up......somebody's been shoppin' without Mama. Although......I would never say a word, long as the bills are paid.

Man oh Man 280 you are not as smart as I thought you were!!!! Don't you have a hidden "gun fund" that only you know about?? You know maybe a brokerage or bank account that is all on line with nothing sent in the mail only to your personal email account? Come on you can tell me I wont spill the beans to the RN. Oppsss maybe I should not have said that. In fact in my first marriage I had to operate that way. Now, if I want a gun, I get one...PROVIDED we aint hurtin' to pay bills. Same thing if she wants shoes or clothes. We're not rich, but not poor IMO. Currently I don't own too many guns...half dozen or so rifles, shotgun, handgun etc. I'm not one to want for numbers...I want what I want. I spied one I wanted about a 6-8 ago...she handles the checkbook, and she brought it home to me...when I thought it needed some work to the tune of $400 that happened too...in exchange she gets her shoes. We DONT have unlimited funds...but we also deny one another just because its a want and not a need. I've recently mentioned wanting to build a custom gun...she says "have at it when you can do it like you want to." And there is no "but you have to buy me something too that cost just as much." When I get mine, she'll get hers eventually, and when she gets hers I'll get mine eventually. Its not a power struggle or a get even kind of game, thank God.

You don't get another gun case Kat, you leave with one you already have, like your going to the range, she is none the wiser.

I just come home with them, never heard anything pro or con from my wife. Did the same with the last dog and my last two boats. I did ask her opinion on the color of the last truck I bought.
These aren't statements about my wife, more a generalized questioning of the logic of many women.
What I wanna know is why do some women complain about a $1,500 pair of binocs and then collect their own Swarovski crystal?
Or, why does a fiancee' complain about $750 for a new rifle/scope package but it's fine that her new ring coulda bought 2 Dakota's?

Guns are a whole lot less expensive than my car addiction, BMW, or boat racing, 140 mph tunnel hulls, Besides most of my guns I get are not expensive to start out with they just end up that way a piece at a time. i have found that gun safes will get you into trouble, they centralize all your guns and wives have a way of counting. My first wife gave me an ultimatum once....either the guns go or I do....I had to buy a bigger gun safe Bullwnkl.

The reason in my own mind I am looking at the model 70 7mm STW is too make it into a 375 H&H for the trip to africa I am planning after I get back from my first one in July. That one took three years to pay for so who knows how long the next one will take.

I need some suggestions, because I'm running out.
I'm clearly getting overlap in my collection, and I've exhausted the supply of "well, I need a <fill in the calibur> to hunt <fill in animal>, because my < random other calibur > is too big/small."
I'd like to hear some creative explanations you have used with the better half to justify a new firearm.
PS. If you're wealthy or single, you're exempt from this question! "I need a back-up rifle for my back-up rifle(s)".......then again, I'm a lifelong bachelor...so I can't testify to it's effectivness--it only works on me Casey

Buying them for HER works pretty good too. Just explain how you are trying to spend more time with her. (gag)

If I caught him COUNTING my shoes...well....he cant...there are too many to count and I have them stashed all over the house because they wont all fit in the closet. Women who count guns have deeper problems to worry about than guns. If you dont have ANY trust in your man then I guess you would need to do something like that. Myself, I think a divorce is cheaper and saves time if you dont have ANY trust in your spouse. Im not gonna police a grown man on what, how and when and where to buy his toys. He knows if the bills are paid or not. If a gun superceeds the mortgage and food in the house ....then you need a divorce. If the bills are paid...buy away!

Bob Thanks. It is my goal in life to make him the most spoiled man on the face of the earth. Im tryin to anyway. He is good to me and I try to reciprocate. Its like his earlier post said, we dont keep score with gift buying. If the other wants something, we find a way to make it happen. It gives me as much joy to buy him a gun as he gets from receiving the gun...scope....and all the associated expenses if siting(?) it in, ect. (I dont know what that means, I just know it cost about 400 smacks to do it.) But you are SO RIGHT..Im one lucky chick!

I buy a new gun sometimes because "It was so cheap, I think I can make some money on it.." or: "It's lefthanded...do you know how hard these are to find?" or: "Oh, that one. I've had that one a long time." or: "It called out my name when I saw it." or: "It's just like one I had when I was a kid, and they quit making them." Heck, there's as many reasons as there are guns...well almost. My latest is based on the theory that English Sparrows won't go in my shop if I own a new Remington Smoothbore 22. I'm saving the paint on my truck and camper by keeping them at bay. Besides, "Remington is making a limited run of them in a BDL model this year".
I saw a movie where only the military and the police had guns. It was called Schindler's List.

In our case, I'm often the one encouraging my husband to get a new something or other. (He suffers from consumer guilt sometimes.) I tell him 1) it's a long term investment: guns don't go bad, out of style, etc. 2) it can either (hopefully not) be sold someday by the kids, or (preferably) handed down to them to keep themselves 3) the gun is likely to be cheaper today than it will be some undetermined amount of time from now- if he wants it that bad, he may as well get it now Granted, I wouldn't necessarily want him to buy a new gun every week (even great things have to have limits), but every now & then is just plain healthy! Me, at the moment I'm quite pleased with my little collection... I'm not so much a collector as a shooter. As long as I have a few good shooters, I'm good.
