Any suggestions? I have a few of these bullets instead of 62s and wife will have a 16 inch vehicle AR soon.

Figured they might work on deer/pigs and varmints just fine.

Thinking TAC around 26 grains or so but open to suggestions. Other than playing with 52 bthp 15 years ago I've not loaded anything in 223 less than 68 in many years.

I've got some 50's as well, but I plan on stating with IMR 3031. I'm getting 3200 FPS and sub .5 MOA with the 50- Nosler BT and 25.0 grains over a Remington 7-1/2. I've used the 62's in my AR with 3031 as well but don't remember the recipe. I've got it wrote down somewhere, but I do remember it looked promising.

Had a hunt a couple years ago where I had to use mono's, Very picky on powder and seating depth with this bullet. IMR 8208 XBR was the best combo in my AR

In a 12 twist Howa bolt gun, I am getting sub MOA out of 50 grain Ballistic Tips with 25.7 grains of Benchmark, PMC range pickup brass, and Federal Gold Medal Match primers.

Benchmark might be worth exploring.

3031 and 50 grainers seem to go together well. I also like AA2230. 2230 meters very well. 3031 not as well.

I quit using Varget for any diameter bullet smaller than 243. I just get too many powder jams on my Dillon.

My CZ has a 12 twist barrel and those 50's shoot really well. I've got a lot of 3031 left to use up, but I never have like the way it meters. I'm using a max charge of 25.0 grains in Starline brass and it literally fills the case to the top. I have to push the bullet down in the case neck and compact the charge a little before seating. I get no pressure signs though and 3200 FPS. I shot the 24 hour campfire challenge once and had a really good group going until mirage and wind got to me. I tried it again this past weekend and once again mirage got me. I had two called flyers so I didn't even post the target.

Once I run out of 3031 I might give the AA2230 a try. Is it a ball powder, a flake or shorter extruded kernels than 30301?

My initial experiments with TAC and this bullet appear promising, still doing the Barnes seating depth challenge though.

There used to be a place that adapted Dillon bars to meter better, cupped out the end, put a micrometer on them etc.. I had mine done. Not sure if they are still around. Loaded a lot of Varget and RL15 on the Dillon over the years never had enough issues to recall anyway? Just FYI.

Oh heck no. Texas is ok, but I hate the heat. And the people, mostly implants, are becoming obnoxious. And too many liberals leaning the state towards Democratic.

I LOVE the cold weather, and the beauty of Alaska. People are friendly. Haven't found anything to not like about Alaska yet but I do have to put up with bugs and at some point will have to put up with severe cold. But right now I have to fly home a bit in the winter to do maintenance around the farm since Mom is still with us. It may end up I am a snowbird mostly at this rate. But I miss the snow and cold right now. Fugging to hot and humid. Though folks are giddy we have a slight chance of snow tonight some are saying...

Thanks. Enjoying already. Hunting guide spring, fishing guide summer, hunting guide fall. And time to mess around before and after. Always a great time.

Getting to see Denali every day she is out is amazing for about 3 months in the summer.
