I wonder why he didn't get a colonoscopy with that microphone? I guess the Nashville I grew up in is long gone! Back in the 1960's, one of the women he insulted would have performed that little procedure!

This is the first lady of country music talking. She has a country soul and knows the music as well as anyone alive today. I agree with her 100%. She's right on with her statement. This new country music SUCKS! It has no soul and doesn't resemble great country music. It's a different style of music that if you like you like, but don't shame country music by calling this crap that!!!

I'm old fashion like Lady Loretta, and I loved the old music. I loved Loretta's hits, especially her signature hit(All of them have a signature hit that people hear and associate with the one that made it famous nomatter who is singing it.)Coal Miner's Daughter. That song to her is like "He stopped Loving her Today" is to George Jones (Even though it wasn't my absolute favorite of his) or "Together Again" was to Buck Owens. Those all were fantastic country hits. I used to love old Jones hits such as "Walk Through This World With Me" or "If My Heart Had Windows" or " The Race is On." Buck Owens seems almost forgotten now days, but in 1966-1970 he had tons if hits, great music. Later we had Travis Tritt, Marty Stewart, Allen Jackson to name a few great ones come along and revive the brand. Now days when I accidently hear some of this modern Country Music(I don't go looking for it and turn the channel as soon as I recognize it) I almost get sick. It sounds like dragging your fingernails on a chalk board to me. It reminds me of Hard Rock when comparing it to 50-60s oldies classics. Anyway, I guess everybody get's my drift.

So Alan Jackson is the cutoff?

Jason Aldean or Joe Nichols sounds like death metal to you?

It all comes back to Linda Ronstaplacoccus, the circle of life.

It’s all about supply and demand obviously. There is a chunk of change spent on whatever they call it now...Bro Country or something like that. Not so much with the style I like.

I’m personal friends with a two time CMA Artist of The Year that y’all just love to bash on here. Thing is, he’s as much, or more, “country” than any poster on this message board. His demo CD, which I have a copy of, is as old country as it gets, but he is under contract to sing what Capital Records wants him to sing, act like they want him to act, dress like they want him to dress and be where they want him to be. He’s living his dream though. If y’all had the same chance as he did, pulling in 90 mil last year, we’d all do what Capital told us to do....in a heartbeat.

market dictates the demand, not the other way around. If people werent responding to the "new" country, it wouldnt survive. I would argue that Miranda Lambert is still pretty country. Dolly still manages to put out records here and there. I would even throw a fair bit of blake shelton's music in for some good measure.

I have tried to be objective and give "new country" a chance, but with a few exceptions it is pure horsesh*t. I would even contend that bro country and country rap is the worst music of any genre being put out today.

This "Bro Country" sucks. I agree with my fellow Kentuckian, Country has been on a downhill slide for at least a few decades. I can't even stand to listen to a radio station that doesn't play classic country.

Nashville country is fueled by profit, as most industries are. Chicks buy albums, so the”product” has evolved to become this entirely disgusting thing, and chicks gobble it up. Radio stations only play the crap being pushed from Nashville (promoting sales of said crap to said chicks). Dudes who want to hear free music on their radios are SOL.

Fortunately in today’s technological world, it’s not difficult to find real music from real talent. It’s definitely out there. But you won’t find it on the radio.

I'd forgotten how good Dale Watson's music is until this thread made me think of him. He put out a couple of good albums back in the mid 90's.

I got to see him perform at a small venue back then.

Even when he started making a little money he'd play small places and put on a show just like he was the night's house band.

Back when he first started out he'd travel around to truck stops and his band would set up on a flat bed out in the parking lot.

That's good music. Old school. I wish they played that style more on the FM band here.

We saw Dale Watson at the Coupland ballroom on January 4. He is still very good.

Wife tuned in the local "country" station in the car a while back, I couldn't even understand the lyrics of the song and it sounded more like some kind of rock to me. I quit country music maybe 20 years ago when they completely stopped playing country music.

I like some of the old music, some of the new music. I don’t really like female singers much.
