Bought a matte nickle H&R Handy Gun II barrel and receiver factory chambered in 357 Remington Maximum. Added an H&R Topper 88 .410 stock set as it need the narrow barrel channel. Not in these pics I've since installed the missing rear sight. Replaced the ugly Weaver 82 scope base with a shorter, better looking Leupold 56515 scope base and topped with a 4x M8 Leupold. Installed sling studs and an Uncle Mikes hammer extention. Lastly a little custom bling to the forearm with a cartridge case head. I'd add pics but this site sucks for posting pics for those of us with limited computer skills.
I have a Handi-Rifle with several barrels & a Magnum turkey barrel. The extra barrel program was an inexpensive way to make several guns out of one. I really like the gun but I like it even more after having the trigger worked on.

I got extra lucky with this one. It has had a trigger job.
You’re gonna love the Max. Load up some 180 Speers HCFP with 26 gr of lil gun or there abouts. It’s a hammer. We have yet to recover a bullet and the farthest a deer went was 20 yards. Best bonus of all minimal recoil.
I had a huge collection of handi-rifles years ago. The 7x64 Brenneke was probably the coolest. Out of the probably 30 different variations I had none of them had a trigger that was worth a dang and was the limiting factor to accuracy.

Trigger jobs are a breeze on those rifles. If I've done 20, I've probably done 50. Having a slave pin and a small wedge to hold the barrel latch lever up reduce the cuss words during assembly by 90%.
I just picked up a blued Model 158 in 357 Mag. It cleaned up nicely and I plan to refinish the stock and see how it shoots. I like how well it handles!

Thanks, Dinny
Sweet!! Pics when you can! The 158's do handle better than the newer heavier barrels. My Maxi LOVES 357 mags too.
