Friday was last day of deer season. We didn’t kill any trophies but had some memorable moments and got some meat. My 8 year old killed his first deer and ended up killing 3. My 10 year old killed 2 does, and I killed 2 deer. We should be good on deer meat for a while. Both boys did end up missing a nice buck which was a let down but they’re young and will have many more opportunities. All the more reason for them to practice their shooting skills. Maybe we can swing a squirrel hunt. After that I’ll swap to fishing mode if I find any time between 4H, baseball, church, and work.

The purpose of the thread was to show that we had a great deer season without killing a wall hanger. Sorry if I sounded glass half empty but am not. Instead I feel very blessed and enjoyed this season spending time with both sons. I was pointing to the fact that you don’t have to kill a wall hanger to have a good season. Getting out and enjoying God’s creation with those you love is blessing. The deer you kill are a bonus.

remember the member you're responding to has the handle "Blackheart" so there's that....
I agree, trophies, no. but memories, heck yeah. don't worry what other people decide to nitpick on, that's on them, not you.

We ended up with 7 between my wife, my son and me. Biggest a 155 lb 8 and the smallest a 70 lbish doe. Processed all ourselves. Ground around 140 lbs of burger and sausage and vacuum wrapped all the loin and round steaks and the boneless shanks. Ground some bacon burger with about 30% bacon and it makes an outstanding hamburger.
