I have not visited you guys in quite a while... (lightfoot...you still here?) I have, however, continued my Savage collection for the last 15 years. Finally...I got the 300 Model G with .410 cased set (1925). Looks very nice, and should ship early next week. So...being like I am...I want to shoot the .410 too. Never had a good reason to wonder...till now. Questions: Open the lever, drop a .410 shell on top of the brass rotary...close lever and shoot? Single shot only...right? Does the forearm just lock in place after the barrel is swapped to the .410?
Any insight on this...or more than this...is very much appreciated.

Wow! Welcome back! Lightfoot is still here, and someone more experienced than I will be along to answer the 410 question.

It's a single shot, load it the way you described. The 410 barrel should have a thumb bolt that tightens down on the front of the forearm. It doesn't have the tenon like the rifle TD barrels.

Thanks! I have never heard of the thumb bolt. Hopefully it comes with the set...we'll see!

I have never heard of the thumb bolt. Get yourself a small rubber washer to put on the end of the thumb screw. You'll see why....

Thanks. I will. I think I can see where the thumb bolt might dig into the wood on the forearm. (reading History of the Savage by Murray)...so now I see. The thumb bolt is attached to the 410 barrel. Looks like i'm good to go. I appreciate the advice and insight~!
