Why are conservatives being called fascist?

Fascism (/ˈfæʃɪzəm/) is a form of far-right, authoritarian ultranationalism characterized by dictatorial power, forcible suppression of opposition, and strong regimentation of society and of the economy which came to prominence in early 20th-century Europe.

The definition it appears to me to be describing the Demonrat parties actions. ANTIFA clearly uses fascist means; Obama's dictatorial power and forcible suppression of opposition. Seriously, I am confused by the name calling. Tantamount to calling a Republican a democrat, which I find one of the most insulting of comments.

Rather ignorantly, think of the political thought not to be a straight-line continuum with a center point, but rather a large circle with total neutrality being a point at 12 O’clock high with left and right diverging in their respective directions from there. Now you can visualize that the extremes of each eventually meet, characterized by pure “self-interest destroying all else.”

The area of the circle is human nature which void of law, societal restraints, and morality is completely selfish and destructive.

The result of both extremes on the street is the same..

Remember the origins of the term Fascist. The fascists were Mussolini's party of revolution. The term comes from a bundle of wood laminated is stronger than a single plank. Mussolini was a devout socialist.

True, the Nazi part was the National SOCIALIST Party, when the Antifa spouts their nonsense, they're pointing their fingers right back at themselves. Too stupid to realize what that means. Too stupid to know that history has been down that path, and it ends badly for them.

It goes back even further. After WWII the left decided that the true leftist ties with fascism could not be told and started the narrative that the evil fascists were of the right.

Had a niece post some crap by Ron Howard espousing that yes he's a liberal but this is what it means.....

One of his points was that he studied history and sees Trump as a fascist.

I replied among other things, he didn't do a very good job learning regardless how he studied because he obviously doesn't understand the definition of fascism.

Step-sister who is a retired english college professor asked me how I defined it, indignantly.

I listed the definition out and showed there there is only one thing that Trump does that APPEARS fascist. And that is his bombastic nationalism. Yet he doesn't act on it with the power at hand. I listed all the anit-fascist actions taken by the potus and his admin including deregulation, putting individuals ahead of the general population etc.

Crickets were heard in response.

My step-sister is a good lady. Reasonably smart. But taught at a little community college or small local college her whole life. And she doesn't realize how her emotions dictate and run almost her entire thought process. My niece who originally posted this drivel is reasonably conservative, but as a young lady who has never truly had to support herself, never created a job, never been truly on-the-hook for anything because grandpa or grandma are always there to back her up, is falling into this emotional trap as well.

In the United States "conservatism" means less reliance on government and the protection of individual rights as guaranteed by the Constitution. It's not possible to equate less government and individual rights with fascism.
