In replying to one of the recent Rush threads, I was reminded of William F. Buckley. I was too immature and disinterested in politics at the time to glean the most from Mr. Buckley during his time on earth. Out of curiosity, I checked YouTube and hit the jackpot of archived episodes Firing Line. An All star list of guests, and Mr. Buckley’s wisdom and uniquely articulate and dry presentation. I’m settling in for some long viewing sessions.

I just took the hyperlink off because it appeared to be connecting to my YouTube account. Sorry for the inconvenience.

I’m currently watching Buckley debate with the Socialist Workers Party in 1968.

One of my favorite Buckley interviews was the one with "The Reverend uh Jesse uh Jack! son" as Rush likes to emphasize. Democrats and other race baiters accuse Rush of mocking Jesse's manner of speech, but as Rush explains, he is mimicking the manner in which his idol William F. Buckley prounced Jesse jackson's name. Listen to that interview and you will hear what Rush is talking about.

I remember in the 68 campaign in a debate he threatened physical violence on a rather effeminate author type. My father was very republican leaning and he was happy about Buckley getting riled up.
Patriotism (and religion) is the last refuge of a scoundrel.

Was it Noam Chomsky? He threatened to punch him in the nose.

From my late teens, till he went off the air, I don't think I missed a single installment of Firing Line, or one of his panel debates.
