Did the early M 70 XTR featherweights, 1980/88 have a satin or gloss finish on the stocks? Was various types of finish available?

Satin finish:

According to Rule, the XTR finish was changed to a polyurethane vs the vinyl finish they were using. According to Rule, when Winchester changed their buffing operations, they found that polyurethane worked better. That change was made in 1979 and was applied to all XTR finishes....

Not to derail the thread, but are those Leupold DD "super low" rings?

Lows. Burris FFII 3-9x40 with ballistic plex. Its what I run on most of my model 70's. Even my pre 64's..

Mine is ser#1802082 in cal 6.5X55 with iron sights bought new. The finish was dull satin but has been polished with rottenstone to semigloss.
