Any suggestion for the ackley 22/250 loads. Have some with wc852 but no longer can locate this powder.

Have only shot said chambering in a coupla dozen barrels. Cite the particulars of your platform and dots will be easy to connect.

Don't mind Elkchunt,Google is as close as she can get. Hint.

Stick, I'm not the OP but I would be interested in a load recommendation for mine - Model 788 Remington, Benchmark 24 inch barrel 8 twist. I have a bunch of 75 grain Hornady ELD-M bullets and like to stay in that neighborhood. Magazine is all wrong for the long bullets so it's basically a single shot with them. Throat length is sufficient to seat those bullets so they're not intruding below the neck. IIRC the BTO measurement kissing lands is about 2.084". I am using Lapua brass.

I have been shooting the 22-250 AI for decades, unfortunately I had my reamer made years before Lapua made 22-250 brass, it’s a couple thou bigger than any other brass at the base and web so I have been using Norma brass. Never tried the Hornady ELD-M’s but the Hornady A-Max’s had a nasty habit of blowing up at 3400fps. My favorite recipe for a 1-8” twist is the Berger 80gr VLD ,fed 210’s and RL19 powder (have had barrels in the past that preferred IMR4831 or VVN160).

I have heard that the Lapua brass is a little wider in diameter at the base and web. The reamer that was used on my rifle seems like almost a perfect fit for the Lapua brass. On the tight side but I like that. I used RL19 with the 75 grain Hornady's and got pretty good results although I have not chronographed it. I think I will see if I can get some of those Berger VLDs. Thanks for the info boatanchor.

When I briefly played with the 22-250AI, I used the Hornady 68gr OTM and a couple of old standbys. The barrel got hot, very fast! I then tried VVN140 and it burned much "cooler"? Anyhow the barrel remained pretty cool with it. It was a good combo in that rifle anyhow. I then went to a 224 TTH and R22 and the 75 Swift. But, I found the 22-250AI to be one neat cartridge!

I’m shooting a 12 twist that has just shy of 2000 on the clock and ready for a new barrel. Mine has shot 52 gr A max over 44.0 hrs H380. I have a fast twist Bergera barrel in 22-250 going on it this summer.
