I am looking for a Williams Fool Proof receiver sight for a Savage Model 340. If any one has one complete and in very good condition I am willing to pay $35.00 (plus shipping) for a brand new one or will entertain offers for a used one. I would prefer to see pictures if at all possible.

Please PM with details and I can give my email address to send photos.

Thanks,
Bob

Hey guys,
eBay is no help for now and Numrich is out of stock. I recently purchased a used, but very nice, Savage 340 for my son, it's not drilled and tapped for a scope but it is for a peep sight. If anybody has one they are willing to sell PM me and let's discuss it.

Thanks,
Bob

It must be a really early Savage 340 not to have been factory d&t for a side-mount. Even my 1952/53 vintage 342-S is d&t, but the holes are below the upper edge of the stock, so the stock would need to inletted if a typical side-mount was going to be installed. But since it is new, unfired, and has cut checkering, I don't think that will be happening while I own it.

Tanstaafl,

I have a "WFC Corp # 175" peep sight on my Stevens 325C. The same gun as the Savage 340 but produced in the late 40's. I have had this peep sight on many 340 as well and works very well. Ebay is where I found mine about $20.00 and they were quite available. Good luck on your search I'll check around town and see if anything shows up.

PS very accurate little guns

Thanks to both of you,

I don't know how old it is, but I've had the action out of the stock and there are no holes for a scope mount.

I just did an eBay search and found the Savage #175 sight, but no mounting screws supplied. I'm going to watch it and see if I can't get lucky on tracking down some screws before I bid.

Thanks again,
Bob
