Sat down to trim some cases and realize I didn’t get my set screws tight enough on my case trimmer.

My question is at what point is brass to short? I was shooting for the 1.910” from Hornady Data but I’ve now got a few from 1.900” (shortest) on up to my desired length. Will these cases still be fine to load and give me a decent test of a 5 shot group?

Yes, they will be fine. I don’t think you will notice the difference in your groups. To prove it to yourself, load five of the 1.91” and five of the 1.90”, then load a mixed length batch of five. Shoot and see.........

PS. You are correct however in trying to keep your brass as close as possible to the same length.

In my opinion ten thousandths below book trim to length is not a concern. Safety wise. The variance in neck length may be a consistent neck tension issue however. I would trim all your test cases to same length, in this case 1.900”. Load em up, and do your testing.
Depending on your rifle, and reloading consistency you could very well not see the difference in that ten thousandths.
Lots of guys here with a ton of knowledge, far more than I. Hopefully they chime in.

Should be no problem unless youre crimping the bullet in like a 3030. Then overall length is critical. Have fun! Mel

They will probably grow back .01" from a single use. At least my new commercial cartridges seem to...

Trimming them evenly is more important than the actual length. I often trim shorter than book so I don't have to do it as often.
