Former CNBC anchor Michelle Caruso-Cabrera announced on Tuesday she will run in the Democratic House primary in New York against freshman representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
In a statement, Ms Caruso-Cabrera said: "I am the daughter and granddaughter of working class Italian and Cuban immigrants. I am so lucky to have had such a wonderful career and I want everybody to have the opportunity that I've had. That's why I'm running."
The anchor worked with CNBC for more than two decades before moving into a contributor role in September 2018. She will not work for the network during her campaign, a CNBC representative said.
Besides her work as an anchor and contributor, Ms Caruso-Cabrera wrote a book in 2010 titled "You Know I'm Right: More Prosperity, Less Government." She has registered as a Democrat in the last several years while advocating for less government involvement and supporting free markets.

I hope she kicks AOCs ass. But AOC has a lot of celebrity type social media following. I hope common sense out weighs juvenile popularity.
Getting AOC out of office might be worth a donation to her opponent.

Be careful what you wish for. Minnesota has elected plenty of loons and while their tenure accomplished nothing, the good news is that their tenure accomplished nothing. I love to hate Al Franken, Mark Dayton, and Ilhan Omar as much as anyone, but their incompetence ensured they were a 'yes' vote on liberal issue and nothing more. As bad as it is, a competent liberal is much worse.

Think of this, if you can stomach seeing her on TV and hearing her childlike idiotic voice, the more she talks the more people tend to vote the opposite. That will not only help in turning the house around and keeping the senate sane but also help Trump. I believe there's still a majority of solid thinking citizens out there and every time they hear somebody like AOC open their mouth keeps more people on the conservative side of things.
What goes up must come down, what goes around comes around, there's no free lunch. Trump's comin' back, get over it!
