SWFA 10x is fantastic for that.

I'm glad this topic came up. My 17 is used for a wide variety of targets near and far(ish), large and small and at day and at night. I'd love Doug to comment further if he would. I've been thinking about the Hawke Frontier SF 4-20x44 - Mil Pro....

I've not seen any other images of this scope and I'm wondering where the illumination control is. I highly prefer the control to be on the paralax knob.

We have been selling an increased quantity of the higher end Hawke scopes in the past 6 months or so and getting great feedback from the guys buying them. Lots of scope for the price for sure

Hawke Vantage 17HMR Rimfire 12x or 16x are made specifically for 17HMR caliber. My buddy really likes his 12x.

CleanAirTurbulence: I have several heavy barrel Rifles in caliber 17 HMR and have been shooting this round (high volume style!) on Varmints and small game since 2,003.
I say "strap on" as much power as you can afford in a good quality variable scope.
On my 17 HMR's I have two that use Weaver V-16's (4 to 16 power), two with Burris 4.5x14's and one with a Leupold 6x18!
Those Weaver V-16's are just wonderful scopes and my "first love" on my first 17 HMR, but the Leupold 6x18 "takes it up a notch"!
And this - don't let ANYONE tell you the 17 HMR is only good for "175 yards"!
Learn the cartridge (wind at distance and trajectory!) and use a good Laser rangefinder and go have some "long distance" fun with the 17 HMR.
Hold into the wind
