Nice one.
Years ago, I traded for one with a solid rib. My business partner wanted it so bad, I sold it to him.
I wouldn't shoot steel shot in an older gun.

These are the best pump shotguns formerly made. I have 2 heavy duck guns. For turkey and geese-non-toxic shells. They really work. You did well. Close to a Super Fox in range.

I still shoot a hvy duck 32 inch barrel with a solid rib, I have a thing for the model 12's. Only dis like is the weight, they have all served me well with no complaints. I have 2 hvy ducks with solid ribs A standard field 2 3/4 thats 98% and a trap gun with vent rib minty also. 3'' lead BB or 4 buck was my goose loads when i was a kid man i killed a ton with them.

I found a heavy duck with Simmons rib a little over a year ago that someone had chopped at 21”. I sent it to Mike Orlen to be threaded for chokes since there was no collector value. I shot s very nice gobbler with it that year, it makes a very handy gun.

I have a regular field grade with 2 3/4" Chamber, I would love a heavy duck. My dad had a friend when I was growing up that had one. However, if you have one with a full choke don't shoot steel in it. If you want to take it water fowl hunting spend the money and buy you a case of Heavy Shoot, It's soft like lead and won't harm your barrel. The older barrels are made of milder steel and steel will ruin them. Also, if you have a tight choke it can bulge the barrel right at or a little behind the choke.

After a decade of wanting a 20 gauge Model 12, out of the blue, my daughter bought one with a solid rib. She adores it. For trap, it’s either a clean miss or she crushes it.

I love Model 12 shotguns. I use my Heavy Duck for turkey hunting. Yours is a beauty.
