There is an article in this months edition of the Ohio Gun Collectors Association newsletter that describes a gentleman's effort to find his father's 99.
He has been looking for years and is offering a $1000.00 finders fee in addition to the purchase price of the rifle. It is a model 99G in 250-3000. Serial #282748.
His email is lspeckin4n6.com.
He is a retired Michigan State Police Detective First Lt.and author of "Winchestor Model 07 Self-Loading .351Caliber:Its past and Its Future With Modern Brass,Bullets and Powders"

I checked my 99. Not the one.

I'm wishing the man the best of luck, because you don't know if you don't try.

But I am not optimistic about the chances of success.

You never know. Years back I sold a butt plate to a fellow with the same serial number as his gun. How they ever got separated is a mystery but all's well that ends well!

I wish him well. Not often one gets to right a wrong.

Go to http://www.ogca.com/
Click on the link Spring 2020 Newsletter and look for the Search for a Soul Gun article and you will find the complete story.
I should have thought to put the link in the original post.
I hope we can help him find it although I agree the the chance is slim.
But you should never say never with Savage.

Mikev,
Thanks for posting this. I am a member of OCCA and didn't read the article in the last newletter I just received but I just read it now. Great story. I hope to help this man find his Dad's gun. I have had a number of .250s over the years that have passed through my hands and I will check my log book to see if I've had it.... and if so where it went. In the meantime will keep a keen eye out.
Yeah, "soul gun". Nice. Living a stones throw from Utica NY I am fortunate to acquire a lot of interesting Savages & related items and have for many years. Obviously this particular gun left the area originally but one never knows where it will turn up. Thanks for the post. Tom www.foxriversporting.com
