I don't presume any judgement, don't want to imply any, and hope that no contentious SOB will wrest this thread into a squabble I'm just curious

Do you "come here" on a computer that belongs to someone else? (Your employer, perhaps)

For the record, I own all of mine and used my employer's only at Saudi Arabian Airlines' flight-crew ground-training center in Jeddah a crude, complicated, bulky, and slow relic that used eight-inch floppies. Each night, in my apartment, I was able to do more, more easily, faster on my then-new IBM PC with IBM DOS and 5-inch floppies. Don't recall the size of its RAM, but it was microscopic in comparison with the RAM in the ones that I use now.

Progress is indeed fast sometimes. It seems like only yesterday that I thought that a computer was somebody who rode or drove a long way to work every morning. grin

Well, I have my own PC, in fact 3 of them. I also remember having computers when the screens were green and somewhat yellow print. It was on a VERY old compaq portable with maybe a 5 inch screen.
It seems like "State of the Art" only lasts 20 minutes or so any more.
I am sure we are at the "tip of the iceberg" with computers right now

Do I own this computer?

Lemme tell yas,...

Years ago I was a happy man,... wallowing in my bed of sublime ignorance,...

,... then my baby brother computer dweeb hooked me up,.... showed me the way,..... introduced me to the wisdom which was available from this contraption,...

I oughtta kill him, man,... oughtta kill him,..

He took my ignorant world and impressed it with knowledge,....

Family too!

Why he do that?

I own this one. I use a computer at work; well it is somewhat a computer. It is a satellite communication system that I can message my boss and she can send me messages like where and when to pick up my next load. It also tattles on me all the time. It sends her the location, speed, rpm, every shift I make, gallons per hour of fuel consumption and all sorts of other information but it will not get me to the Campfire.

I use a laptop with a Verizon air card for Internet so I can check in almost everywhere except in Canada. It costs an additional forty-nine cents a minute for Canada usage.

I own it. One. Only one. Don't need two. Don't want two.

When I was in college, computer students carried boxes of punch cards. I started out on a pc that booted up with the 5.25" floppies and ran DOS .001 or something similar. It had no hard drive and 640kb of ram. It also had a mono screen. It was a couple years after that when hard drives came out. The 3.5" floppy was a great invention. I'd been using a computer for at least a year before I even heard of a mouse.

When I retired I turned in two company owned computers. Both were always 100% used for company business. A lot of company business was also done on my personal computer, but it was stuff management didn't need to know about. Many of the management decisions made the things we needed to do almost impossible, so back channel messages that could not be intercepted enabled those of us working remote to find ways around them.
We all had the best interest of the comapny in mind, but management often didn't see it that way.
