No clicks on the older vx2 was a major stumbling block for me.

Clicks started on the VARI X models (mid way) . By the time VX-II and VX-2 arrived the clicks were already featured

Even my VX-1 has clicks. Quantum optical system and Multi-coat 4.

I like the looks of the VX-2 better. Not so much plastic. If it's a newer VX-2 with the DiamondCoat especially.

I’m curious if you FREEDOM users feel that the adjustments are more accurate or easier to get zero set. I’m just wondering if they’ve improved or changed the adjustments on these newer models compared to the VX-1 and VX-2. Please just user opinions I don’t want to start a Leupold bashing or verbal war of insults between members...PLEASE.

The VX-2 and VX-II both had click adjustments. The Vari-XII did not. The couple of VX-Freedom scopes I have owned seemed to have the mushy clicks of the later VX-1 and Redfield Revolution scopes. I don’t care for the blocky lines and taller turrets on the Freedom scopes either. I will take the VX-2 or II over the Freedom.

And I'll take a friction-knob Vari-x over either for set and forget use. Once you fiddle them into place they seem to stay there. Not worried about minor improvements in "glass".

The lack of reticle options in the Freedom line makes me appreciate my VX2’s with LR duplex even more.

I have a V something II 3x9 that is probably 25 years old. It has the friction adjustment. Held Zero well on a couple of different rifles. One a 50 cal ML and the other a 300 Weatherby. Been a good scope and still is. The.newer ones have a clearer better View. Haven't looked through a freedom.
A friend has a VX II on his truck gun. A 22WMR. His daughter wrecked his truck and rolled it a couple of times. Rifle flew out of the truck and landed on some big rocks. Knocked one of the adjustment caps off and made some big scratches in the tube and objective bell. Amazingly it was still zeroed. Pretty good endorsement for the scope.
