It's a good burning rate for a whole bunch of cartridges. It's the only powder I buy in the 4 kg bottle. I load/ed it in the following cartridges.

243
250 Sav
257 Roberts
6.5 Creedmoor
6.5x55
7x57
7x64
280
30-06

I'd like to try IMR 4451 but fat chance of ever seeing that out here.

I’ve been wanting to try 4451 too, never in the shop I buy from!

I have 4 8lb jugs of H4350 at my shop in Reno, NV, if anyone nearby wants some.

There's also AA 4350. At any rate, I've never understood the obsession over H4350; it's a good powder, but it ain't the only game in town. I've moved over to RL-17 and even plain vanilla IMR 4350 in the absence of the Hodgdon version. (I bought a gross of RL-17 on the cheap from some local yahoo who didn't know what he could load with it. I need to use that up before I start doing any load work with RL-16 or IMR 4451 or break into my stash of AA 4350.) The same goes for any powder: there's nothing that occupies an exclusive spot on the burn rate chart. I still miss H450 and AA 3100, but other things have taken their places.

H4350 is (inevitably) arguably the most temp tolerant rifle powder........

A couple good acquaintances of mine have been silhouette shooters for ~35 years, and have done a lot of temp testing of various loads over the years, and they say they always end up back with H4350 for their 7mm08's, 308's and now the 6.5CM because of it's consistency in varying temperatures.

and I cruise along using IMR 3031, 4895, 4064 and 4320, RL 15 in most of my reloading and have not been experiencing a hiccup in availability.....

while folks tout how much better a lot of other powders are...

one good thing for me is, the powders I use seem to always be available on the shelves...

and then using Blue Dot for my varmint season loads in the 223....550 to 600 rounds out of a pound of powder

5 lbs goes a long way in being "available" when I desire to use it....

I am using what's available.. even if I have to give up 100 to 150 fps of max velocity...

too many people have to have what's the latest greatest d'jour in reloading powder, and then cry about shortages....

oh well, to each their own...

John, I have never seen any Blue Dot here. I looked for it several years ago when I started loading for a .38 Special. Only powder that I could find to use at the time was Red Dot. I used quite a bit, then I bought the .44 special and quit shooting the .38 special as much. I use Universal in the .44 special. I still look occasionally when in a store, but still have not seen any Blue Dot. Re 15 is seldom seen here too. Most IMR and Hodgen powders can be found. Maybe not all at the same time, but they will show up. miles
