I like the Model 7, and the 660, and the Browning Micro's.
A .223 or 7-08 with a little 2-7x33 would be ideal in one of these 20" barreled models.
But my latest knockabout is a 22" center-feed Salvage Model 10 .243 spec'd at 6.25 pounds,...that I got on the cheap. Balance is excellent with a VX1 3-9x40 in Burris low zee rings. Action is super slick on this particular rifle. And the accu-trigger is not too bad.
I don't mind the ADL style. In fact, I kind of prefer it. And the mag-box and loading/ejection port are plenty roomy. Rifle is a skosh longer than typical SA 22"
I'm even starting to believe it's not ugly
. Though aside from the polished bluing, it's nothing fancy at all.
I would prefer stainless. And the tang safety is at an odd angle.
