...A 336Y in .35 Remington? If not factory offered how many dollars for a 'smith to do one up? It's just a thought I've had.

You don't know how many times I wished for the very same thing. I have a 336Y and I wish it was a 35. I imagine JES would do the rebore for $225.

It’s not a huge thing to chop the barrel and move the band back on a regular 336. Or you could change it up a little like I prefer to do and do away with the front band and cut a dovetail and use a tenon off an 1894 or 1895 to anchor the magazine tube. That way requires making a mag tube plug but it really isn’t a big deal and does away with the band that’s not as secure and has been known to scratch the barrel during assembly.

If you had a 336 Y you could screw a 35 barrel on it and cut it down and reuse the mag tube and bands. You would need a loading gate, bolt, and carrier as well as they are all 35 specific parts, though the 30/30 carrier may work.

The 35 Rem with a 16” barrel and factory ammo would probably have less velocity than some factory 357’s

Buy an 1894 and be done with it.

I agree. You want to load your own and get the right powder / bullet combination. I've got a 16.5" 35 Rem and it is stellar with my 200 gr. loads.
