I have a new - not chambered or threaded - stainless Douglas #2 contour barrel in 257. Still in the shipping tube from Douglas.

it would make a great lightweight 257 Roberts on a 700 action. I bought it to do just that with it, but I stumbled across a Kimber Montana NIB in 257 Roberts that shoots incredibly well so I went that route instead.

Forgive my ignorance. I have a Remington 722 receiver and factory stock. Which contour would best fit the stock? Was told a Rem 700 take off barrel would work.

Any barrel contour can be threaded and chambered for the 722.

The #2 contour will go in but is smaller than the stock barrel channel. Not sure if a #4 or #5:will fit without opening the barrel channel up.

The Rem 700 may very well be the same as the 722............ I'm not sure. Notice the top Shilen/700 barrel measurements. That should answer our questions
