Here’s a first...I concur with you 100% from 10 years ago... Laffin

I own several lit reticle scopes and I’ve never once had the need in “MY” hunting situations to use it.

I sonhave a NF SHV 3-10x42 Moar reticle that is unlit...This is the only scope I would use with the lights on all the time. I can barely see the small + reticle in day light. If it wasn’t on a 22 LR, I wouldn’t be using it, unless it was an illuminated reticle. 😎

I’m gonna stick with my VX III’s. They work great for the hunting I do. I have no trouble getting a rifle sighted in and the rifle holding zero.
