What do you guys do for rain gear?

The MN season is one week long and can be snow on the ground.... so you gotta go out and stay warm.
I've sat in my blind and killed turkeys in rain storms, but its the unexpected rain when I don't pack the blind I need to prepare for.

Ponchos?
Rain gear under and loose camo layer over?
green olive rain gear?

I've tried a bunch of things of the years.

I have a different kit for rainy days versus otherwise unexpected spot showers. For the former, I carry rain pants and a jacket. Othewise, I keep a lightweight camo poncho in my pack.

I got one of these on sale a while back at Sportsman's Guide

Super lightweight.

If rain comes up unexpectedly, I'll just pull all my gear close and put the poncho on over the top. It protects my shotgun as well. I can even work a call under the poncho.

I get their catalog and was eyeballing that same set.

Nice to get an endorsement.

Would you go with the darker woodland camo or lighter digital woodland?

Im leaning for the lighter pattern because I hunt early season.

Got to the turkey woods one morning and it was storming, finally eased off a little and I got out of truck. Bird was going crazy and it started raining hard again, he didn't care, About 800 yards later I got setup on him and he came straight to me. We both were soaking wet. Good times.

Woodland. If the turkeys ever get digital night vision, I'm quitting the sport!

If you wear looser LeafyWear camo as a light outer layer, you can slip on any drab colored rain gear under it as needed and be quiet as well as well-camo'd. Most rain gear tends to be noisy and shiny when wet.

Yep. It does the same thing leaves do when wet. Gets shiny.

Soaking wet in MN is prime hypothermia temps....

But I have hunted that way later season.

It would be nice to hunt warmer weather, but we dont worry about snakes for the most part.
