Does any big chain like Walmart sell cardboard gun boxes that could be used to ship long guns?

Not that I've been able to find.

Uline has them but you have to buy a bunch.

Best deal by far.

I visit my LGS....they always have a cardboard box or two from recent shipments.

Just get any large box and cut it down yourself. Tape it together and you are good to go.

I always remove the barreled action from the stock , wrap each separately , much easier/cheaper and compact to ship . Just saying ..

Order a cheap plastic case from Amazon. They ship it to you in a perfect size box. Put the gun in the case, zip tie case shut, back in the box, tape it up and ship it.

There are some that measure 9x9x48, or similar, so you can put one and a half together.. I just shipped a lever gun with the butt stock off and used one with a bunch of bubble wrap.

Most UPS stores or FedEx ones sell boxes.

I like Brownells cardboard boxes a lot. Have sold off a lot of stuff and all that I shipped in those arrived safely. Similar to the old Cooper Rifle boxes.

For to from gunsmiths I use a plano takedown shot gun case in a cardboard box. Its short enough it doesn't look like a gun.

For shipping where I won't get the box/case back. I use ULine rifle boxes.

That also helps to disguise what may be in the box..

The CMP boxes are excellent if you know anybody who has a used one they would let go of, but new, they are outrageously expensive.

Ask your gun dealer or local FFL for some empty boxes. They always have them laying around.

Just go to Home Depot or Lowes and get carboard boxes from vinyl siding. They give away boxes. Or even a siding supplier. It costs them money to dispose of their cardboard, so of course they will give it away. And then when you ship, it will have all the siding labeling on it, so will be assumed as building materials. They are 12 feet long, so you can cut down as needed. Or, if you need wider boxes, the ones for soffit material are wider.
