So, in today's "I cant tell the difference between satire and real life" news...apparently a history professor at the University of Oklahoma, has been forced to apologize for using a racial slur. The professor was reading a historical document containing the word, and gave out a "trigger warning" letting those know it was in the document beforehand and allowing students to leave if they wished? So anyway, there apparently is an organization on the OU campus that is ready and waiting to spring into action at a moments notice when such opportunities arise, the Black Emergency Response Team! So BERT scheduled sit-ins and hunger strikes and now has a list of demands.

Students said they will be sitting at Evans Hall until their demands are met. The Black Emergency Response Team said many members would go on a hunger strike.

“To the upper administration: there will be no meetings,” said Miles Francisco, co-director of BERT, in a demand letter. “You either meet our demands or you starve us of our freedom. Join us.”

Their demands? They want a new multiracial student center that will feature meeting spaces for marginalized students, common areas, study rooms and a Popeyes restaurant.

MLK would be crying at how much these dumbasses has ruined what he fought for.

Let them starve, they will quit after a day or two.

Let the hunger strike play out. The situation will resolve itself.

I am also quite confident that the person that suggested a Popeyes chicken vehemently disagrees with their suggestion to go on a hunger strike.

They were throwing out demands and some fat ass in the back was like "yea, and a Popeyes chicken too!"

and then the leader says "if we don't get what we want we'll go on a hunger strike"

and the Popeyes chicken guy was like "whut?"

Makes about as much sense as most undergraduate student initiatives these days...

I was there for a Graduation in December. I saw damn few.

They do "hunger strikes" in shifts nowadays. One shift starves til they get hungry
then another shift comes in and starves for awhile.

Yes, and some of the oldest Popeye cartoons were "racially insensitive", to say the least (and funny as hell!).

Here is a good article on the strike with lots of photos. As someone said, Martin Luther King is rolling over in his grave, he risked his life to get blacks the right to vote, the right to go to all White college, and these kids make utter fools of themselves. Apparently the teacher said the n-word. These black kids hear their rap music stars say this word a dozen times a day.
