If this happens, a lot of Bernie supporters will either not show up at the polls, or will vote for a third party candidate like Jill Stein was in 2016.

Interesting box the Dems have painted themselves into.

1) Nominate Bernie and have a huge negative impact on the down ballot candidates when people who won't support a socialist don't show up at the polls

or

2) Don't nominate Bernie and have a huge negative impact on the down ballot candidates when the Bernie supporters don't show up at the polls

Yes it is. I have to go to town today for more popcorn..... . I heard Nunn on (Hannity?) radio yesterday. He referred to Bernie outright as a Communist, which he is. I also agreed with Nunn that Bernie is the only honest Demcan out there - he believes the crap he is spouting.

And the Democrats death spiral accelerates...

Makes no damn matter who they nominate. They're still nominating a communist.

My biggest worry in this scenario is they will pull someone out of the hat as a suprise, someone not damaged or even in the primary. All the existing people come with damage.

Someone like Adam Schiff. D's will love him and some of the middel of the roads may swing away from Trump

They have shot themselves this time. And they will fight.

After Bernie is put out to pasture, Trump should find some harmless place for him to serve in his administration. Draw in the outside edges and make a big tent. Since Bernie is an Independent, it wouldn't require breaking anyone's party affiliation to use him on our side.

I think that most of Bernie's appeal is not his communism, but rather his populism. That could fit with Trump's administration.

So much for the Democracy they are always pushing.

That is the ONLY way Bubba Clinton got into the WH.

They should, he's never been a Democrat and he wants to do the same thing as Trump did to the GOP only in reverse. Ass hole wants to take the party far left of the extreme left.

What options does the Democrat Establishment have?

If Bernie is allowed to capture the nomination, the party is forever branded the Communist/Socialist party. They can't allow this.

If Bernie is cheated out of the nomination a second time, his followers will revolt and the Democrat party is forever fractured beyond repair. They can't allow this.

They have but two options here.
1) Rig the primaries as if Bernie actually lost support and there will be no need for the Super-Delegates to steal it from Bernie again.
2) Kill the old man with a heart condition before the convention.

I betting on option (2).
