An alternative to a blind magazine is the traditional Mauser military type floorplate. This will NEVER fall off, but can be taken off pretty quickly to clear a jam. I have these on a few my really, realy serious rifles.

Of course, nothing wrong with hunting with a single-shot, either--as long as it's by choice!

Thanks for the advice. If I was to carry a one shooter it would be something like a Ruger #1 in 45/70. A real single shot can be reloaded in a hurry. A bolt gun with no floor is a fumbling mess.
