I stopped into a local pawn shop today to what might be lurking behind the counter. I managed to pick up this nice little Henry 30-30 for $400. Can anyone help with identifying the model and possibly year of manufacture. The chamber looks as though it has never been fired, though there is evidence that someone had mounted a scope at one time. Bore is bright and clean and rifling looks untouched. I hope i made at least a decent deal on this one. Any thoughts?

Pictures are in a image gallery here: 30-30

I am no expert but it appears recent...

Are Henry Rifles really made in Bayone, NJ?

I think you did just fine! I’ve always been extremely impressed with Henry lever actions. They’re so smooth the action feels like it’s on ball bearings and they all seem to be quite accurate.

I’m sure that if you don’t like it you’ll be able to get your purchase price back but I doubt you’ll be selling it once you get out there and get to “know each other”.

Enjoy your new acquisition and many happy hunting trips. 👍

I am looking forward to getting out with it. The newer Henry's I have found all have checkering on the stock and foregrip, while this one is smooth. That throws me off.

But the action is smooth as silk.

A phone call to the manufacture would get you the year built, they have a great customer support line.

They’re based in NJ but moved centerfire production to Wisconsin in 2014. The Wisconsin plant has supplied the Bayonne operation with many components used in all Henry models including receivers, bolts, sights and other internal parts.

Thanks
NJ just doesn't seem like it would be friendly to 2A Manufacturing.
So .22 made in NJ

OP,
To clarify I meant the finish appears more recent than say a'60's or 1970's era bluing ..
