As for Post Malone,...I had never heard of him before he was mentioned in this thread. So I went to youtube to listen to his songs.
They're not totally painful to listen to. But they *are* totally bland.
I don't understand what's happened to young people's ear for music. I can appreciate many types of music,..even going back to the 30's and 40's. But there's just nothing to a lot of the stuff that passes for music these days. I doubt that anyone will be listening to it in 10 or 20 years like people listen to American music that was produced from the 30's up to the 80's.
That's not to say that nobody is producing good music today. But all of the hip hop inspired music is just instantly forgettable crap.
Somebody linked this video a while ago and I've watched it many times. I think it's excellent. So I guess that there's still good music being produced. But it doesn't seem to generate the interest that the tired, old hip hop crap continues to do.

I sort of get the gauge thing, I think. I wear writing instruments (aka pencils) on my ears quite often. Or I just stick 'em in my 'fro if I be needin' a haircut.
Never know when you might need a gauge. But it begs the question, wtf do these things gauge?
