As Pappy said those airbob soles are terrible on smooth wet rocks and steep wet slopes.

For very flexible, very quiet, very light modern boots with a thin vibram sole and a goretex lining, the Asolo Nucleon. I got one pair and immediately bought another and might buy a third pair. They are very thin and flexible but still give good protection. As flexible as a running shoe but with less padding so you can feel the ground. Not as quiet as moccasins but way better grip and better protection for your foot.

Back in the 90’s, the best for me were the original Rocky Cornstalkers. They were light, quiet, and had good traction. I used them for a few seasons, then walked out the back door of the cabin and the soles blew completely apart. That was the last pair of Rocky boots for me. Used the Browning Kangaroos for quite a while, along with the original Danner Pronghorns, which were both very good. Now the Salomons are on deck if it isn’t too wet and cold.

In the South, where rubber boots are the norm, I’ve mostly used Lacrosses in various form. I did have a customer from Alaska bring me a pair of the US made Extra-tufs a ways back which were awesome, but quality of those seems to have slipped in recent years with offshore manufacturing. I was just gifted a set of LeChameau boots today for Christmas, which seem awesome and have a great rep, though a bit pricey. We are heading to Bama on the 8th, so they will be put to good use shortly and I’ll report back.

I have a pair of muck boots. The Artic variety.

Super warm in the stand and they are quiet.

I couldn’t be happier. On their 5th season now.

I been wearing the appaently discontinued Wolverine Coyote XTR slip on boots. 10" or so. Very comfortable, insulated, waterproof, flexible, with decent traction. Kind of a modified moc with a little more cushion, tread, and thorn protection.. Pretty good for sneakin around in the woods boot.
Not supportive or protective enough for me in a more rocky location.

I bought some Under Armor boots early fall. They’re flat out the most comfortable footwear I’ve ever had.

Loved the boots, but not great traction in muddy and wet conditions, hills

In dry weather I wore a pair of handmade moose hide moccasins, wet Maine guide boots.

After the first shot the rest are just noise.

If conditions allow at all, then Browning Kangaroo Featherlights, or some equivalent. If too slippery, then stud the soles with self-tapping screws. I'll run these every chance I get, even if I think it might be too cold or a bit wet.

Otherwise, straight to the Mucks, "Wetland" preferred.

Yep. You can get some Schnee's with a better tread if the pac boots are desirable. I ended up getting some Danner Powderhorns and couldn't be happier. They offer models with no insulation, 400g and 100g:
