Friend dropped off some fresh caught rockfish. I couldn't make it fishing this morning. Fried up about 10 lbs in a beer batter. One last big FU to social distancing. SIL dropped off some fresh made pork lumpia from her Inlaws. Fried up those as well for appetizers. Sorry no better pics was busy cooking eating and drinking.

Stay health folks.

Dinner tonight will be venison bourguinon adapted from Julia Child’s famous recipe using beef. It’s in her classic book, “Mastering the Art of French Cooking.” It’s a bit of an endeavor, but worth it when you have time!

If we hadn't been able to stay in Canada, south Island NZ would have been next choice !!

Miss everything about the ocean & island living.

In Australia, the kayak fish, are referred to Australian Salmon.

The "clams" you smoked would by pipis (common name) or eugaries (native name).

Smoked roe is an acquired taste, but I miss smoked sea mullet roe.

Think you should be able to connect with a yellowtail kingfish or even an amberjack there. Hang on, they'll pull your arms out of their sockets !

We weren’t able to hook into any kingfish from the kayak but we caught a few sub-legal kingfish on the charter in the 60-65cm range. They fought great. The neighbor gave us a legal one he had caught so we got to eat one
