Just wanting to ask what is a realistic value on model 42 skeet and field grade and model 61 22 and 22mag? Thinking I might thin the herd some in the near future. I know it’s all condition these haven’t been out of safe for 60 years 95 %plus

Is there a rib on the 42?

They both are valuable IMO.

Jordan555: I have been watching the Winchester Model 61 market very carefully for the last couple of years and the Model 61's in 22 L.R. I have seen sell in the condition you describe have sold for $950.00 give or take just a bit ($50.00).
The Winchester Model 61's in 22 Magnum in the condition you describe I've seen sell have brought around $1,200.00 and maybe a bit more.
These Rifles have been very "busy" of late due to the rise in their popularity and value so they are coming out of the woodwork it seems to me.
The 61's are bringing lots of "serious attention" these days - I do know that.
I am sorry I have not kept up at all on the Model 42 "market".
Good luck in your sales.

95% original condition 42 solid rib skeet ought to bring between $3.5k and $5.5k in today's market. Lot higher couple years ago. Saw a postwar bring $8k awhile back. Anyway, should have "skeet" choke. A 2.5" chamber increases value, as does prewar. A vent rib gun, if original, would bring more. Most VRs on market are not original, tho.

95% original condition 42 solid rib field ought to bring between $2.5k and $3.5k, today's market. Prewars bring a bit more. IC least common. Cyl pretty uncommon. Mod slight premium. Full most common.

Poulinantiques.com has a searchable auction history. Give you some idea.

Levers the rib on the one 42 is a vented sn 1206xx has simons stamp on left side of rib. Proof mark offset on barrels left side. Marked 3 inch skeet on barrel. Couldn’t get pic to load. Can text or email if you need to see if you send info
Thanks

SN is early for a factory marketed Simmons installed 1st type (donut post) rib. 125k more like it. 1st type ribs marketed by WW did not have a Simmons stamp on side of rib.

Suspect either retrofit aftermarket rib or possibly a Simmons marketed gun. When Simmons retrofit by removing a solid rib (offset proof) there are often telltale grooves running along the top of the barrel corresponding to solid rib attachment points.

Not a donut mounted rib. If there’s grooves from removing rib I sure can’t see any.
Thanks

OK so the VR is an aftermarket Simmons install. Still could be a very nice gun that brings $3k at auction. The SR field model could be all original. PM sent.
