Plenty of dead deer on the side of the road yet.... let's get them picked up first before we start shooting more....
Well... we have come to the point.... where... the parasites are killing the host. It's only a matter of time now.
They only win.... when they cheat.

The food that was plentiful in all the stores is in homes now. Instead of poaching, stealing from the public, how about targeting those who cleaned out the stores. I would much rather see targeting of the hoarders over stealing of public game. Plus, how many deer are going to get killed by people without a clue of how to process it so the majority of the deer will be wasted.
Next step is hoarding of the public game. I have deer and turkey on my property every day. Should I kill as many as I can fit in my freezer now before someone else get them? This is the hoarder's mentality; a bunch of selfish Aholes. So you are a socialist? You believe that everyone should have the same amount of food, just divide it all equally? Do you believe that about money also, we all get to have the same amount?

Still plenty of food available.
Because your favorite brew pub closed down does not mean its time to panic.
I order my pork butts by the case from a local sausage maker. He is a friend and I get them at cost. I make a lot of sausage, pork, beef, and Venison. This is the time of year I go overboard and fill my freezers full with brats, hot dogs, polish, bologna, summer, potato and breakfast. I ordered 3 cases of butts earlier this week, they should have been here today, perfect for this weekends grind and stuff. I got a call today, no pork, no idea when and no back-order. This is extremely odd as with all the restaurants shut down one would think that the Wholesale distributors would have plenty. Not the case, no pun intended.
Give a man a fish and he eats for a day. Give a man a welfare check, a forty ounce malt liquor, a crack pipe, an Obama phone, free health insurance. and some Air Jordan's and he votes Democrat for a lifetime.

I go to the grocery store about 2 times a week to buy food for the next few days. Since the COVID concerns have arisen, each time I go, I get a few extra frozen, canned and dry grocery items. I am now up to about 3 weeks worth of food. I will stop getting the few extras each trip when I have about a month's supply. I don't know if that makes me a hoarder or not.

For someone who really needs to eat I say go for it, the deer population would not suffer. However, I think what would happen in most cases is someone just shoots a deer, walks up to it, then decides not to butcher it.....................I don't think most here want to gut a deer in the middle of July whens it's over 100 degrees. Most that would harvest a deer are in rural areas, many of those already have a garden and chickens. Again, I reference the movie clip below https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KZrcqIvvB_0

No shortage of pork producers in MN, call a few until you source how ever many # of pork you want. Load up some coolers and sharp knives. Request from the producer that you are given access to a loader or hanging facility to get your stuff broken down as well as carcass disposal. This is just feeding yourself folks, not long-division where you have to show all your work. Uff-Da! Jim, Sammo, or anyone else who has livestock. If someone called ahead and arranged things would you have an animal to sell for cash-money @ spot price?

Not as concerned about distributors running out of food as I am a total lockdown/shutdown of businesses and travel.

In which case driving around hunting is a sure way to get you into more trouble than is driving to a producer and back. Not that one should have to, but, one could likely call your local sheriff's dept. and let them know where you're going, when you're going, and why you're going.

Very few residents here have chickens and even if they did it would take one hell of a lot of chickens to feed a family for very long. Not many raise a garden either and even for the ones who do, they aren't going to be eating anything out of those gardens for months yet. It just snowed here night before last and it will be several more weeks before we stop getting frost. Hell, I've seen it snow on mothers day here.

If one can "justify" breaking the law for poaching purposes because you're hungry, then you're no different than the guy who shoplifts some food at the C-store because he's hungry, or even robs a bank because he's poorer than he wishes to be.
Once a person can "justify" breaking one law, then they can "justify" breaking them all since they have slipped into teleological thinking at the expense of deontological.
But I also suppose everyone on the 'Fire considers themselves virtuous while the next poacher over is simply vicious.

If your hungry, need meat, just do it, zip your lip, it’s really that simple.

So by your reasoning, the guy breaking the speed limit on the way home from work could easily justify robbing a bank . Typical old campfire bonehead thinking there. Everybody here breaks laws. EVERYBODY.
