I work in the design, build, and deployments of much of this nation's 911 systems.
I started 25 years ago in South Carolina, building up all of the 911 infrastructure at the MCAS and MCRD, plus the city and county of Beaufort and City of Hilton Head.
After that, more or less lead the development of wireless 911 solutions, (GPS location, hybrid network OTDOA/trilateration, etc) in this country......
Now deploying cutting edge Next Generation 911 solutions.
So, working from home to keep team members safe, but ACTIVELY working from home. We are on point. Vesta? West?

I’m a retired firefighter . My son is a paramedic in a small fire department. They have modified the response for both police and fire here. Never done that before in my memory. Has your department discussed bringing retirees back? My department is talking about hiring retired officers back at an interim level at peak rate. That would be a 1000hr job.

I used to work for the Federal Bureau of Prisons We were open no matter what was going on.....even during the government shutdown in the 90s a lot of us had to work without a normal paycheck distribution.

Food manufacturing. We were told we are going to be running full out. Then yesterday someone in the plant tested positive. Now I am home for an indeterminate amount of time...

They say my job (one of them) is critical, but scaring off terrorists is really boring if you're good at it.
The other 21 days a month I am a fishing guide. I would say that falls more in the entertainment category.

Here's what kills me. We are trying that social distancing. Programs, medical waiting area, stuff like that. Yet at yard close we are packing 250 in a dormitory housing unit. Logic is often not part of the decision making model. It's, "Do Something." even if doing something makes no sense at all.

Security management here. They sent most of the bank employees to work from home but the retail branches are still open and I gotta keep staff around for them and to keep folks from stealing all the toilet paper out of the corp. office buildings.
Got a bunch of buddies from back in the day who are still pro musicians. They’re screwed.

Laid off 2 months.
Didnt do chit.
Messed uo an elbow and read 3 months of nothing might let it heal.
So.....2 months I did nothing and it does feel way better.
Back to work, favor the one that got messed up, now my other one hurts all the time ( but nothing popped/ tore like other ).
The ol lady bitched, told her surgery would force 3 months off and sick pay would suck.
Her job supposedly critical, so that didnt help w her attitude.
