With center fire in mind. 223, 30-06, 35 Whelen, 45-70. Ok, that's 4. So I can't count. For where I live if I had to just chose 3, I'd go with 30-06, 35 Whelen, 45-70.

For game hunting: 1. 243 2. 30-06 3. 35 Whelen or 338 WM. Prefer the Whelen myself

.22LR .30-06 or .308 12 ga.

No, I'm not a Ruger bigot - just an unabashed fan of their revolvers, M77's and #1's.
A good .30-06 is a 99% solution.

Quak
Smile, relax, be glad. I’ll not be competing for your .308 ammo or brass.

Since the question was RIFLES, for VARMINTS to BIG GAME (some of you can't read...) I'd go with: .223/5.56 325 WSM .50-110 (or whatever you want to call a nitro 1886/71 with a fast twist .510 bore)

For many years these were my three picks: ,22-250, .25-06 .300WM.. Now I would replace the .25 with a .270.. They have worked for me for 50 years.. Of course now the safe has many options..
