I know this scam is has been happening a lot lately on here so I figured Id share this name. Contacted me via PM replying to a WTB ad. Gave me an email to contact a random person.

"Nickki" registered 3 days ago, has 0 posts. Same MO as I've read about on the others.

I could be wrong, but I doubt it.

Thanks for the heads up.

1] Nickki has no more privileges here.

2] From now on New Members will have to have at least a certain number of posts (right now 20) before they can PM anyone.

That's a start Rick but I think 20 posts can be achieved quickly for the scammers by just throwing out meaningless posts to get past the 20. I would think a much higher amount would be warranted and they should not be knowing what that number would be, maybe make it a random amount for each new member. That should have the desired effect on most of them. JMHO

Snypershide used to be 100 ! Haven't been there in a while but I'm sure that would cut way down on the scammers !

Yes this is their policy, 100 posts before you can sell

I've seen a few of these scammers run up their posts in a couple days, well over 100. Really jsut need to do a couple quick checks. Especially howling they've been a member and how often they post, as well as where they are posting. The last scammer I busted had 80 posts in 3 days, had posts in every single topic here. Even the most well rounded of outdoorsman foesnt post in every single category here.

I like this idea but because as Warpig stated, and I also stated in another thread, these guys don’t give a rat’s arse about posting till they get to the magic number so they can start their scams. Maybe if they didn’t know what the number was it might deter them.

At any rate, don't depend on the site to protect you. You are your own best defense...

If it looks good, you'll see it
If it sounds good, you'll hear it
If it's marketed right, you'll buy it
But...If it's real, you'll feel it

Absolutely a scam. He has commented and PM'd me on every WTB post I've had on 3 different sites. Always with the same message to contact a guy who has what I'm looking for.

When they won’t do. A face to face transaction is another giveaway. I’ll
Push for that if it’s suspicious and they cave.

Thanks for posting thee head's up's guys. Those of us who don't do a lot of transactions on here would be somewhat ripe for the picking, although I have to admit, I wouldn't buy off someone I didn't recognize and with a very low post count.

So he’s been busy. I didn’t give it much thought because he has no posts and
was asking me to contact a third party.

Posting WTB ads attracts these scammers. It’s easy to find pics of almost anything on the internet and claim they have one to sell. I’m only going to deal with known members especially with WTB ads..

Appreciate the public service announcement Warpig, in the future I’ll do the same when I encounter these scammers
