Returned home Friday night to the Black Hills of South Dakota to a nice March spring snowstorm. Spent Mon-Thurs last week hunting with Willicd for hogs and coyotes.

The snowstorm upon return and our wretched shooting were the only negatives to the trip. frown

Three of us went down and two of us stayed in the shipping container cabin and the third guy brought a big tent. Accommodations were as advertised and really nice to have bathroom facilities and a hot shower. If we did not want to "rough it", the hotel in Turkey was an option.

Weather was incredible with highs in the 70's and even 80's. We saw spring, erupt as we were there. Grass grew and trees budded out.

Embarrassed to admit this, but we were into hogs and none of us could connect. We hunted with our traditional bows, then transitioned to rifles. One coyote was given a dirt nap and a few other opportunities squandered with a miss, and a botched encounter at 12 yards.

We tried to burn all of the wood in our area as the fire pit was going late into the night. Cooking over the hot coals was a treat and the venison brats, burgers, steaks and hot dogs all benefited from the mesquite fire. We did eat one lunch in Turkey and I had the best chili rellenos I have ever tasted.

Fantastic hunting vacation, minus the poor shooting.

Thanks for the trip report! I've had a Texas Panhandle hunt in mind for this autumn but I haven't made any reservations or paid any deposits with the current pandemic pandemonium. It can wait until next autumn if needed. One of my nieces has expressed interest in trying her hand at hunting.
