Do I need to make any modifications to my standard T3 in 308 to take CTR mags? I have extra CTR bottom metal, a stock modified to fit the CTR BM.
I’m making a poor man’s T3x Arctic with parts available.
Asking while waiting the CTR BM and mags.

I put my action in a CTR stock, and it fed/worked just fine. If you can get the CTR BM to fit your stock, I assume it will work just fine.

IIRC you need to remove the mag retention spring off your current action is all.

Thanks, I'll try it first, and if it doesn't work, remove the spring.

The little metal thingy is still attached, and it would love to feed 243 rounds, but they won’t fit in a 223 chamber. Atlasworx and MDT en route to see WTF...

Not wanting to start a pissing contest........
What is the idea behind putting a T3X barreled action into a CTR stock? What are you hoping to accomplish? Seems like the overly large barrel channel would make this project questionable? I'm obviously missing the point.
I'm going the other way, wanting to make my CTR more of a slimmed down, heavy barreled hunting rifle.

It’s got a pretty good float for sure and if it was a 6.5 Creed I’d probably be going the opposite too. I liked the grip, idea of the AICS mags. Nothing more than something to do and only gets shot off the bench. I’ll put a 20” chub on it if I ever wear it out.

Not doing that. T3x in a T3x stock modified for CTR magazines. What is the idea behind putting a T3X barreled action into a CTR stock?

Gotcha. I'm the oddball that doesn''t want the mag sticking way out there. Love me some Tikkas.

I’d like that CTR profile in a T3 stock. With a SWFA scope it seems like it’d get the balance more forward to where the elevation knob isn’t eating your wrist.
That 223 setup with the bipod is almost there.

I have a 6.5 CTR that I like a lot.
I bought the mags and bottom metal from The Big Sky, just to have extra CTR mags.
Which got me thunkin' about the Arctic set up, using a action I already have in 308 and a stock I already have milled to fit a ACIS footprint.
Gun loony and all that.

You may need a CTR bolt stop or to modify your existing bolt stop to feed reliably. With the CTR mags, the bolt comes back a little farther than their standard "short action" bolt stop. Here's a pic showing a CTR bolt stop from one of my rifles vs. a short action bolt stop from my .243.

Understood. I'll look at that if I have any failures to feed.

Do Tikka or anyone else make a flush magazine (reduced capacity is fine) to replace the 10-rd mag on a CTR/Arctic?
