This is a Sako L579 .243 bolt action rifle from about 1970 - 71. It's gorgeous - the only part I can see that isn't steel and wood is the plastic buttplate with "Sako" written on it. The guy I bought it from says it had fired only 95 rounds and it does look like it's been cleaned and stored for a few decades. The wood to metal fit alone would have to come from a custom stock maker these days, let alone the borderless checkering.
It's about 50 years old and isn't perfect - safe dings and some worn blue at the muzzle, but in very nice condition otherwise. More details/pics if you're interested.
Purchase includes a nice Japanese-made Weaver 4X38 scope and the Leupold mount.
$650 US Postal Money Order, shipped USPS (insurance extra) to the lower 48 states to your FFL. Will ship to Alaska and Hawaii but you'll have to pay anything over the first $40 shipping. Three-day inspection, buyer to pay return costs. If you want to pick it up locally at my FFL I'll include the two boxes of factory ammunition I bought but never fired. I'll be glad to discuss it with you or provide additional pics, but please be aware I'm listing it in several places, and the first person who says "I'll take it" gets it, regardless of any on-going discussions. No trades, please - I'm cleaning out my safe.
Please follow these links to where the pics are posted. If you can't get them that way, please tell me and I'll email them directly.
