Saw this and thought some of you might be interested. Tikka is go to recommendation now for antwon looking for a good rifle that is accurate, even though they are a little homely and I hate detachable magazines. Thought it was odd the millionth one was a 270 wsm, figured would have been in something more classic.

That's impressive. It took Winchester 32 years to make that many Model 94s and 36 years to make that many Model 70s.

Any idea what caliber the prototype was chambered for?

I'm no help; but, I want to throw out a guess. My guess is 6.5 Swede. My second guess would be .308.

I’ve had a pile of high end rifles and the Tikka is a fine option.

Nothin wrong with a 270wsm in my opinion. It’s no 280ai but it’s still a heck of a cartridge.

I remember when they started getting popular 14 years or so ago. All the complaints about all the plastic. Still waiting on all the broken part pictures. LOL. I’ve had one since 2007.

Been shooting Tikkas for over 20 years now and have no plans to stop. Just a great, no frills rifle that works.

I didn't like Tikkas until I actually used one. I was a Howa/Vanguard guy all the way. Those are still great rifles, but to me the Tikka is a clear step up.

Imo, They should have done a classic caliber in hunter series.
And a really nice stock.
Something like the 9.3x62

All of them do something better than the 30-06, but none of them do everything as well.

Agreed. I would like a lite or hunter 9.3x62. The only 9.3 imported is the Battue model which has the short barrel and stupid looking sights.

I wasn't a fan, then one day, it started to itch inside my head. Oh know, I thought. What is going on? With all the people talking about Tikka's I had to find out what was all the hype about. So, I went looking. I found some in Sportsmen WH. I looked a few over, I thought? This is it? I couldn't bring myself to purchase one of these rifles. So I went home, without a Tikka. That was a troublesome ride home. My head was in a spin, Like I left my wife of 40 years and didn't pick her up, as planed. Oh know!

A few days later, I was still bugged. I was still hearing how great they are. The Campfire flame is bad Jew-Jew. Only when it cost you some $$$. lol. I was seeing how great they shoot with Big Game Powder in a 7-08. They kill elk in Oregon really well. I was really wanting a 7-08 anyhow. So, back to the store I went. What do you know, they had a 7-08 T3-X just as I was hopping they would. I put down my money and bought myself a Tikka. Then I had to wait 10 days to pick it up. I went home, ordered some mounts for it. I had a scope that would work. I got on line with Mountain Tactical. I ordered two more magazines and a long action bolt stop. I was ready and waiting my 10 days.

Okay, I picked up my rifle, made my modifications, cleaned it. Off to the range I went, with the ammo the store gave me with my purchase. I got my rifle sighted in with a few shots. Looking good so far.

I went home and went to the loading bench. I loaded some ammo see what I could get done. It all worked great. I had a friend tell me about his Tikka shooting Hornady's Superformance ammo 139 grain GMX. I picked some up. It worked great. 3 shot group about 1/4 inch group. I shot another 3 shot group it went a little larger but, less than 1/2 inch. The ammo box claims 2910 fps. I checked it with my chrony I got 2920 fps. just 10 fps. more than the box claims.

Yes, I'm happy with this rifle. My wife likes it too. A win-win.

Wish you all the best, as we are stuck in our homes.
Have a good day.

It's taken me eons to even remotely warm to them.
But when asked what rifle for either a new hunter or someone that hunts but has little knowledge on the latest/greatest, I almost always recommend a Tikka.

I'm a lefty, who loves stainless actions,
So many negative comments here about "plastic" yada yada....
I stayed away because of that,
Finally picked up a 6.5 lefty, I like it, alot.
And now going to grab another in .308

My only one is a Hunter in 6.5x55. Lovely rifle, indeed.

Before I lost them all in a boating accident, I had a T1x in .22lr, a LH .223 with 1-10 twist, a RH .223 with 1-8 twist, a LH 300 WSM, a LH 30-06, and a yet to be fired Lh .260 Rem with a wood stock, and another NIB LH .223 for my son. I also set up a new female hunter with one in 7-08. I have never seen a factory gun with a better trigger pull from the factory or one that was easier to get shooting better than ought to be expected for its chambering. I am so grateful that they are available in LH.

Me too. But, I had to try one. It does shoot very well.

I still favor my custom rifles more. I should, I would hope. Look I'm talking to myself. Laughing!!

I really need to get out of the house.

Waiting on spring bear hunting. Seeing some of my friends, having a grand ol time.

I was the same way - just could not like them and made fun of a couple friends that shot them. Then I finally bought one of the Superlites - always been a sucker for fluted barrels on rifles. Changed a few things on that rifle and now its one of my 2 go to rifles I use. Its shoots, its lightweight even with a 20oz scope and seems to have good hunting Mojo:)

I bought mine as a roadtrip/truck gun and learned to like it so well it is now my go to rifle. Putting a SS 3-9HD on it is the perfect touch.

I remember the same complaints, back then and prior.

About that time, I had a T3 in 300 WSM that I wanted to sell, and many people didn't want anything to do with a Tikka. Now, I see many of those same people are the biggest advocates!

Times change. I guess more importantly, opinions change.

The Tika’s Are an impressive rifle. A good friend of mine bought one in .270. He’s not really a rifle crank of any sort and bought the Tika mainly because it fit him well, was chambered for the .270 (my fault 😄) and the price was right.

Turns out it was very accurate and he did well it’s it.
He did have a mis-que with in one day when he somehow managed to drop the loaded magazine from in onto a concrete floor....... the mag split and he found himself owning a single shot rifle until he could find another magazine for it!

One million "Plastikka's?" Wow! I guess im responsible for purchasing a dozen or so of those, not including another dozen that My buddies have purchased since they have witnessed Range sessions with mine over the years..I was not a fan till I bought one and discovered The wealth of excellent aftermarket part upgrades ( bottom metal, bolt stops, bolt shrouds, bolt handles and such) I know these upgrades are not really needed, especially on the T3x but to quote 16bore I enjoy putting "lipstick on my pigs" ......I always keep a Superlite .300 Win / .300 WSM In My safe for a rainy day or any day rifle, ...So here's to the next million! Long live the mighty T3!! 👍........Hb

I've been shooting Tikka rifles since 1976 or so. I have 3 at present -- two M65 in 30-06 -- one T3 in 6.5 X 55 Swede. All are excellent shooters. With my handloads they are capable of MOA groups or better. Favourite is the T3 Swede.

Pretty hard to beat out of the box for the money you spend.

I have a Tikka T3 Lite in .300 WSM, but have only had it to the range twice. Hopefully, I can find a bullet it likes to shoot, as I am not impressed with it's accuracy so far. Since I added a Limbsaver recoil pad last year, it's been sitting in the safe. That needs to change soon.

I've come across the odd Tikka T3/T3x that needed to have the two little nodules in the barrel channel removed so the barrel is free floating right back to the action. Thereafter never had one that wouldn't shoot MOA or better, sometimes .5 MOA or better.
